Trees Downed and Tent Damaged at Texas Campground Following Severe Storm

Trees were downed and a tent left damaged at a campground in Ennis, Texas, on May 4, after a severe thunderstorm moved through north-central Texas overnight.

The National Weather Service had put a severe thunderstorm watch in place, warning of winds of up to 70 mph, hail, and tornadoes. On Tuesday, they said they were still assessing damage from Monday night’s tornadoes.

Video shared by Dawn Kelley-Jordy showed damaged trees at the campsite as well as her tent misshapen and soaked from the storm.

“That was our tent. We were in it when [the storm] hit. Lots of trees are down. One came down over the road last night, blocking the exit. And the boat dock is underwater,” she told Storyful. Credit: Dawn Kelley-Jordy via Storyful
