Trees Lie Strewn Across St Croix Roads in the Aftermath of Hurricane Maria

Trees laid strewn across roads in St Croix, many of them snapped, on September 21 after Hurricane Maria churned off the northern part of the island.

The storm’s impact was felt throughout the island on the evening of September 19 even though its eye missed it by around 10 miles. “With each passing day the carnage from this storm becomes more and more palpable,” Jon Rose, who recorded this footage, said. “The shock is wearing off and a new post-Maria reality is setting in – one with no electricity, food, running water, etc.”

The Category 3 storm caused damage and power outage in Puerto Rico amd claimed at least 15 lives in the Dominican Republic, CNN reported. It was heading towards the Turks and Caicos Islands as at 2 am September 22. Credit: Instagram/Jon Rose via Storyful
