Trees Uprooted and Branches Strewn Across Roads After Hurricane Sally Hits Dauphin Island

Hurricane Sally left trees uprooted and branches all over the ground, as well as damage to piers and fencing in Dauphin Island, Alabama, on the morning of September 16.

Videos posted by Geaux Rescue showed the devastation in a residential area. The first video shows large numbers of fallen trees. The second video shows flooding and damage to a pier and fencing at the shore.

The Weather Channel reported that Dauphin Island saw wind gusts of up to 99 mph as Hurricane Sally made landfall just east of the town in Gulf Shores.

The National Hurricane Center said the hurricane made landfall at 4.45 am local time and would bring “historic and catastrophic flooding in parts of northwest Florida and southern Alabama," as well as a “life-threatening storm surge.” Credit: Geaux Rescue via Storyful
