A GREENOCK man charged with attacking a woman and 'forcibly' removing a mobile phone from a child who is said to have been making a 999 call has had his sheriff court trial postponed.

Edward Joyce, 32, was due to have his case heard on Wednesday, however, it had to be adjourned for a procedural reason.

He is accused of seizing a woman by her hair, pulling her to the floor and repeatedly striking her on the head to her injury.

Prosecutors say he committed the alleged offences within a flat in the east end of the town on January 15.

Joyce, of Poplar Street, has maintained pleas of not guilty, with the trial now due to take place on August 21.
