The family of a much-loved DJ are holding an event featuring six gigs in six different venues to raise money for charities. Bob “Rupindar” Singh Thind from Baxenden suddenly and unexpectedly passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 28, at the age of 53 surrounded by his loved ones.

His wife, Charlotte and children, Grace and Oliver, set up ‘Brave4Bob’ following his death to keep his memory alive and to make a positive impact on other people’s lives. They have organised ‘Interstate present: The Gigathon B4B Challenge!’ with Lancashire band, Interstate who were Bob’s lifelong friends.

It will be the band’s first tour, featuring six stripped-back gigs all in one day. Saturday, September 14. The event will start in Clitheroe, travel to Whalley and then end in Accrington.

Accrington based pub, The Castle will be holding a gig at 8pm while The Victoria in Accrington, where Bob enjoyed visiting, will be holding it at 10pm.

Bob’s daughter, Grace, said: “We still miss dad so much. It’s hard to find the motivation sometimes to do things or just everyday life without him here.

“But with the incredible willingness and collaboration with others, amazing new ideas keep being sprung, keeping his memory alive which holds a special place in my family’s heart. It means the world to us.

“We hope people can attend some, if not all the gigs and show support, share the love, spread good vibes and have a boogie and a beer with us.”

Each venue will pay the band £100 per show which Interstate have decided to donate to charity. The event is free but any charity donations would be appreciated.

Bob’s family have been organising events in memory of the beloved DJ and to raise money for charities. They held a disco evening in April at Coley’s Bar at Accrington Stanley, which raised around £4,000 for Milly’s Smiles, East Lancashire Hospice and Ynot Aspire.

They have also encouraged people to do challenges which can be shared via the Brave4Bob Facebook page.

More details on those charities and how to donate will be announced on Brave4Bob’s Facebook and Instagram page in the near future.
