Tributes to 'lovely and beautiful' mum who 'worked so hard in the community'
Tributes have poured in for a young mum who died after suffering a suspected allergic reaction to seafood. Gayathiri Jeyatheesan, 28, died at her home in Bootle on January 25 after reportedly eating a meal with crab in it.
Mrs Jeyatheesan was with her young son and her mum when she began feeling ill. Her husband was working in the family shop on Stanley Road when she alerted him via Whatsapp. He called an ambulance, but paramedics were unable to save his wife.
Mrs Jeyatheesan leaves behind her heartbroken husband Selvarajah and their 15 month old son. The couple got married three years ago and were looking forward to celebrating their anniversary on January 27. Mrs Jeyatheesan had bought new clothes for the occasion, and they were planning to go the Shri Muthu Mariamman Temple to celebrate.

Mrs Jeyatheesan's family are said to be devastated by the young woman's passing. Her mum was visiting from Sri Lanka at the time of her daughter's death, and they had bought crab as a special treat for lunch. Mrs Jeyatheesan had reportedly eaten crab while living in Sri Lanka, but this was the first time she had tried it in this country as she was unsure how to cook it without her mum's assistance.
Family friend Ananth Raj told the ECHO Mrs Jeyatheesan was a "lovely and kind person" who worked very hard in the couple's convenience store. "She got up every morning at 6am and worked until 2 or 3pm in the shop", he said.
"She was really well-loved by people and was a very good and devoted mum. The family's suffering is awful to see. I'm so upset about it. Every evening I go and stay with them, give them comfort. Her mother is in a terrible way."
According to Ananth, Mrs Jeyatheesan did not have any health concerns. She had a prawn allergy, but had never experienced any issues when eating crab.
