Posting to Facebook, Spartans FC said: "We were saddened to hear that our friend Bob Dryburgh passed away yesterday.

"Bob was a player and our popular social convenor in the 1970's before moving to London. When he returned to Edinburgh he became a committee member and sponsor through our very successful period from the late '90s.

"Bob was then one of our founding shareholders when we changed out structure in 2021. He was also very supportive of Edinburgh University AFC and both clubs will miss him.
