Tributes paid to Scots teen Thai boxer after body found in search

Tributes have been paid to a "one in a million" teenage Thai boxer after a body was found in the search for him.

Jamie Lyons was reported missing from Kirkcaldy on Sunday, September 29.

Police searching for the 19-year-old confirmed they had found a body in a woodland area in the town on Monday at around 4.20pm. Formal identification has yet to take place but the teenager's family have been informed.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

Muay Thai Fighting Fit Gym, in Kirkcaldy, led the tributes to the popular amateur Thai fighter.

“Devastating news for a very talented young lad.

Rest in peace Jamie.”

His step-mum Rachael Lindsay said: "Our world has crumbled. Our boy, we love you more than you’ll ever know!"

Grandfather Eric Lindsay added: "So very sad to say my grandson Jamie passed away today. Aileen and I are absolutely devastated."

His girlfriend Rachael Cunningham also penned a heartbreaking tribute vowing to 'cherish' their time together.

She said: "I am lost for words. Loving you the past 9 months has been the most special moments of my life and I will cherish our memories forever.

"You are in a better place now and no matter what you will always of been the deepest emotional connection of my life, a rollercoaster of emotions for us both towards the end, just mad crazy in love as you’d always say.

"I hope for the past few months we had lived together, and been joint at the hip, I gave you the love and care that you needed - as you always did for me. Just wish it was enough to save you.

"You were in amazing person that will hold a big space in my heart forever, I love you Jamie. You were one in a million."

Pals also paid moving tributes to the talented youngster.

Ewan Mclean Jnr commented: "Rest in peace, Jamie Lyon. You were one of a kind, with a heart of gold, who would do anything for anyone. You will be missed by many."

Murray Rae T Billy said: "Rest in peace, Jamie. You will be remembered by so many. We will all cherish the good memories we made with you. Shine bright."

Courtney Hogg added: "Such a cruel world that we live in. Rest easy, Jamie, you will be missed."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.20pm on Monday, 30 September, the body of a man was found in a wooded area in the Oriel Road area of Kirkcaldy.

"Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of Jamie Lyons, 19, reported missing from the town on Sunday, 29 September, have been made aware.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
