Tributes pour in as man in his 50s dies after Queens Drive crash

Heartfelt tributes have poured in following the sad death of a man on Queens Drive today. Emergency services were called to Queens Drive, Old Swan, at around 12.55pm to reports that a car had crashed into a tree at the junction of Kremlin Drive.

The driver, a man in his 50s, was reportedly treated at the scene by passers-by before paramedics arrived and he was taken to hospital. Police later confirmed he had died.

The road was closed in both directions between Moscow Drive and Mill Lane, and a cordon remained in place until around 4.30pm. The area is now open with traffic moving as usual.

ECHO readers posted messages of condolence on social media following the tragic news. Louise Lawson said: "I was there at the time didn’t see it happen but the saw all the emergency services it was horrific. Thoughts are with the family at this extremely sad time."

Lesley Jayne said: "This is so awful, I was diverted today on the drive and I was hoping know one was hurt, condolences to his family and friends."

Gill Donoghue said: "I passed the accident before the emergency services arrived, it looked horrific! God bless him, so very sad. Thinking of his family."

Amaysa Amays said: "I went through that road. It looks like it just happened. It was so sad to see that. RIP, my condolences to the family"

Debbie King Hunt said: "So tragic thoughts with his family." Meanwhile Janet Banks said: "So sad RIP to the poor man. Feel for his family."
