Tributes to the 'Voice of Leicester City' as Neville Foulger dies aged 85
Tributes have been paid to Neville Foulger, who was known to many as 'the voice of Leicester City'. The veteran broadcaster and journalist, who worked across the Midlands for more than half a century, was 85.
In a statement issued on behalf of his family today (Tuesday, November 26), they confirmed that the beloved broadcaster, who was the long-serving commentator for BBC Radio Leicester, had died. In his distinguished career, he work spanned the Midlands, including Nottingham, Birmingham, Coventry and most notably Leicester.
The broadcaster continued working well into his 80s and only hung up his mic for good durng the Covid-19 pandemic. Over his many years of commentating on the Foxes, his coverage included Leicester City's historic Premier League title victory in 2016.

TalkSPORT presenter Geoff Peters, who announced Neville's death on behalf of the family, led the tributes. He credited Mr Foulger with giving him his first break in journalism.
He said: "Nev employed me on his agency when I was 16 and we worked together again at Radio Leicester in the mid 1990s and then reunited on Leicester City's coverage of that miracle title win. As a boss he was hard but fair. He was a father figure. I owe him lots."
BBC Radio Leicester also paid tribute, saying in a statement: "We're sad to announce that the 'voice of Leicester City', Neville Foulger, has died aged 85. Neville was BBC Leicester's football commentator for the Foxes' glory period in the late 1990s."
In a statement, Leicester City Football Club said: "We are all saddened to hear of the passing of much-loved journalist, Neville Foulger. Covering countless City games, Nev commentated on some of the Club's greatest moments across several decades. Nev was known by many generations as the voice of Leicester City, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him."
Mr Foulger lived in Barrow upon Soar with his wife Fran.
