We tried Bamboleo - the new Spanish steakhouse that lets you do a good deed while dining
When we heard that Six Company, the firm behind the Six By Nico chain, was changing up its Beat 6 concept in Bearsden we were more than a little intrigued.
The venue works to support the Beatson Cancer Charity, and the idea of a new dining concept alongside the chance to support such a worthy cause is always appealing to us.
Enter Bamboleo, found at 149 Milngavie Road and promising to combine top-quality ingredients with traditional Spanish flavours, to create an exciting new steakhouse.

Thrilled to see what it would be like, we headed along for a sneak preview.
What was it like?
Let's start off by stating that every meal enjoyed at Bamboleo will help raise funds to support cancer patients and their families across Scotland, meaning you can enjoy the meal AND feel good about the fact you are helping such a fantastic cause.
With a stylish Spanish inspired exterior, the atmosphere inside the restaurant is great. Spread across two levels, it's a really warm and inviting setting to eat, not overtly flash, it's the ideal place to enjoy an intimate meal.
The open kitchen is also a nice touch, and being able to see the chefs busy expertly working away on our meals is a great way to build the anticipation.
What did you have?
With a tight and compact menu packed with a good selection of snacks, tapas and sides, it's the carne and mains sections that really draw the eye - but we'll get to them later.
For starters, we opted for the gambas pil pil which were really flavoursome with a nice kick that set us up right for the steak.
We opted for the ribeye (medium rare of course) and the cut came cooked perfectly, which is always the big worry with these cuts of meat.
The server recommended the chimichurri which added a wee punch of zest and tang to the meat, a great choice, it perfectly fit the Latin vibe of the menu. We also took a wee side of triple cut chips.
For dessert we opted for the wonderfully named burnt Basque cheesecake, which quite frankly was a nice end to the meal. Light and delicious, it was not too filling.
What else can you get?
As well as a Spanish roast menu, which is served all day Sunday, you can enjoy a selection of enticing tapas such as the carrillada de cerdo (pork cheeks in a sherry sauce), jamon serrano with grilled plums, pisto heuvo de pato (a traditional Murcian stew with a fried duck egg) and, of course, patatas bravas.
The carne section featured steak cuts like the 10oz sirloin, the chateaubriand to share, and the 8 oz fillet.
You can also grab a main like the Iberian blackened pork and the cauliflower steak, or sides like the fried new potatoes and the triple cut chips.
Final verdict?
Eat good food and feel good about doing it. It's a simple message and one that appeals to both our appetites and our altruistic nature. Bamboleo is not only offering diners the chance to help what is a truly wonderful cause but also enjoy some truly delightful food and we think that's the kind of combo everyone can get behind.
Bamboleo is open now. Opening times are Wed-Thu: 4:30pm - 11:30pm and Fri - Sun: 12pm - 11:30pm. You can book now and dine to donate here.
