After my previous visit to the Newcastle Christmas Market, I decided to visit another food businesses that is new to the market this year. So, I made my way down to Crumble Pots, to get myself a lovely festive lunch.

Crumble Pots is known predominantly for its sweet products, with Apple Crumble and Custard being a favourite, but the Christmas Dinner Crumble is a new savoury option. The contents of the festive treat are: chicken and chunky veg in a rich gravy, with creamy mash and a pig in blanket, topped with sage and onion crumble, all for £8.50.

Once I picked up my food, I headed into the shelter of the Central Arcade, away from the rain, to give it a try. The mash, of which there was a very good amount, was as creamy as promised, with the gravy adding a lovely layer of flavour to the top.

The pig and blanket was succulent and covered in crispy bacon, so that was very quickly eaten up. I then dug further down to find the crumble itself, which was the consistency of the top layer of stuffing, and shared the sage and onion taste.

In amongst this were the other components, including strips of delectable chicken, and chunky veg which added another extra flavour into the mix. I got some cranberry sauce added on top, which provided the perfect sweet finishing touch, and made it feel even more festive.

I was left very pleasantly surprised by the Christmas Dinner Crumble Pot, as I wasn't sure what I would make of the addition of the crumble element, but it seemed to enhance the overall flavour and texture. I also feel like it was a good size for lunch, as I didn't feel too full, or like I needed a nap straight away, as is the case with the actual Christmas Dinner.

I think that the team at Crumble Pots have done a very good job of condensing the key components of Christmas Dinner and getting them into a pot. You get a little bit of everything here, and I would definitely think about having another one.

Crumble Pots also offers a product for your sweet tooth, with their menu including a £7.50 Mince Pie Crumble, topped with whipped cream or hot custard. So, there is something else on the Crumble Pots menu that I'll be heading back for.

Overall, Crumble Pots seem to have a very good range of offerings at the Newcastle Christmas Market, and despite my initial reservations about the Christmas Dinner Crumble Pot, I would highly recommend it to anyone.
