Edinburgh newest exercise spot Hotpod Yoga has launched at Fountain Park.

Naomi Watson, who has practiced yoga for more than 20 years, says the sessions will leave customers feeling energised.

Naomi was exposed to yoga from a young age after copying her Indian grandmother's daily routine which led her to her becoming a qualified instructor in 2013. She invited Edinburgh Live down to give it a go.

With just over 60 studios across the UK, the brand opened its first Scottish studio in Glasgow in April 2018 and now Edinburgh locals have the chance to experience this immersive yoga experience. Incorporating a toasty heat of 37 degrees and a calming dimly lit purple light with a gorgeous incense circulating the pod makes it a one of a kind experience.

In the inflatable, bouncy castle like pod, you are taught using the vinyasa flow yoga method, which uses controlled breathing and a range of challenging moves to strengthen, tone, detox, recharge the body and mind all at once whilst burning fat like crazy.

A range of attendance options will be available for the Edinburgh studio - including a single class for £16, a five-class pass for £65, a mini membership (one class per week) for £45, and an unlimited monthly membership for £100 per month (20% discount if purchased as a Founders Membership prior to the studio opening).

To celebrate the launch of the studio, and welcome new people to Hotpod Yoga’s renowned concept, she will host a series of complimentary classes at Fountain Park studio between Thursday November 21 and Sunday November 24.

Commenting on the Edinburgh studio launch, Naomi Watson, said: “I’m thrilled to be bringing the Hotpod Yoga experience to Edinburgh. It’s much more than just a yoga class. Imagine stepping into a heated pod, where the warmth, ambient lighting, and inviting atmosphere allows you to disconnect from the outside world. It’s a space designed to make yoga accessible to everyone, no matter your experience level, so come and give us a try with a free class to kick-off.”

Co-founder and CEO of Hotpod yoga, Max Henderson said: "Its always been top of our list. Back as far as 2018 we were looking for sites. But generally our locations are dictated by our studio owners. We find great franchises and they choose where they want to launch. And it just happens to be the case that we’ve not had anyone in Edinburgh. Now we’ve taken matters into our own hands and are launching it ourselves and then will bring in a studio owner to run it.

"We have 61 studios up and running, with another 15 awaiting launch. We’re spread from Exeter to Edinburgh and many, many places in between

"We founded Hotpod with a clear mission: to inspire everyone, everywhere to feel great through the power of yoga. And alongside that, a clear ambition: to take yoga to more people and places than ever before. 12 years in, with over 500,000 students through our classes, we’re well on our way!"

Taking the class on Tuesday night during the launch session was instructor Nick Higgins who expertly talked us through a range of yoga moves, reminding us when to breath and offering easy alternative positions if you are new to yoga - or alternatively more advanced positions to suit all abilities.

He encouraged us to drink water regularly and take breaks and stop if the poses are too sore. When the class comes to an end there is five minutes at the end where you get to lay down , close your eyes and rest where you are then met with a cool refreshing breeze as the pod reopens.

I felt physically and mentally re-energised after the session and had the option to use one of their showers they have to offer in the facility. I can definitely see why this form of challenging but relaxing yoga is so appealing - you walk out feeling like a brand new person.
