We tried the Glasgow Winterfest ride dubbed 'new wonka experience' as furious parents hit out
A ride at Glasgow's Christmas market has been dubbed "the new winter wonka experience" by furious parents who are calling for it to be shut down - so we decided to see for ourselves if it really is worth the backlash.
The 'Grinch Train' is one of many attractions at Winterfest, designed to entertain little ones during the festive season but mums and dads don't think the £5 per person price tag is worth the trip which lasts less than a minute.
During the very short journey, guests are taken up to a platform in what appears to be an old ghost train carriage. It turns a corner where lacklustre lights decorate the ceiling with random bits of Grinch merchandise hanging from the roof, including a jumper and apron, as the train heads up a small incline.

There are also some Santas and candy canes to the side but it's missing the true spirit of Christmas. It's not the sort of thing you'd imagine when you think of the magic at this time of the year.
As the train heads back outside, the ride is covered with the Grinch character, his dog Max and a sign to Mount Crumpit. The carriage turns back inside through black curtains before a quick drop. The iconic Dr. Seuss character is then introduced, clutching a bag for life with washing up gloves for hands.
Katy O'Brien, who was excited to experience the ride with her son, shared her frustration on TikTok. She wrote: "The new winter wonka experience. This ride should be shut down.
"It cost £10 for me and my son to go on. Disgrace."
The mum visited around a week ago and, it seems, during our visit on Tuesday (November 26) we noticed some of the fittings were missing and poor old Santa's legs were up in the air too.
The sign outside reads "The Grinch That Stole Christmas" and it has been taken quite literally as the decor looks like it has been nicked by the Grinch himself.
Other users took to comment on how it looks like a "1990s ghost train has been recycled."
One person said: "I'm obsessed with the fact that they're just took a ghost train and stuck a load of grinch Home Bargains gear in it."
Another added: "It’s like having a rollercoaster in your loft when you’ve spilt the Christmas decorations everywhere, I’m howling."
A third wrote: "OMG I went on this last weekend! Such a rip off, cost me £20 because my daughter wanted to go on with her older brother and my other daughter didn't want to go on herself."
While a fourth said: "There was less than that when my son went on it two weeks ago. They’ve added to it cause it was empty."
