I tried a Yorkshire Pudding Wrap from the Newcastle Christmas Market stall that had huge queues on opening weekend

After seeing that the Newcastle Christmas Market opened to the public on Saturday, I decided to visit one of the very popular food businesses that it has to offer. So, I set off down to Famous Yorkshire Pudding Wraps, to get myself something for lunch.

Now, the clue is in the name when it comes to what I got, but you may be surprised by exactly what was in it. The turkey wrap, which I decided to get, contains the meat, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, vegetables, gravy, and my choice of topping, cranberry sauce, all wrapped in a huge Yorkshire pudding.

The slight sticking point for me is the price, with the wrap coming in at £12, which makes sense looking at other prices in the market, but isn't something I'd be willing to fork out for a daily lunch. With that being said, I was distracted by the amazing mix of festive scents that permeated from the wrap I was holding, so I quickly forgot about the price.

When I got sat down and grabbed a fork, ready to dig into this gigantic meal, I realised that I would struggle to eat something of this size and texture while walking around the market, or at very least, I would struggle not to make a mess.

The wrap itself was sublime, with the crispy edge of Yorkshire pudding being the first thing I tried, followed by the pigs in blankets, which were tender and flavoursome. The turkey was very succulent, as it is doused in gravy and cut into strips, making it much more palatable than one big dry slice.

The roast potatoes also managed to stay crispy, while the gravy ran through them, enhancing their taste even further. The vegetables; I counted peas and sweetcorn, added to the meal, making it an all encompassing Christmas dinner in the ideal surroundings of one big Yorkshire pudding.

As I had my last bite, finishing off the substantial lunch (which I saw as an achievement in itself), I pondered whether I could see myself becoming a regular customer. There are two main reasons why I wouldn't get something like this every day, the damage it would do to my wallet and the damage it would do to my waistline.

However, as a festive treat, every once and a while, I would definitely recommend the Yorkshire Pudding Wraps. You might want to find somewhere to sit to avoid making a mess, but trust me when I say, it is absolutely worth the extra effort.
