Trio of Whales Delight California Tourists
A group of tourists were treated to lengthy sightings of three blue whales on a whale-watching safari off Dana Point in California, according to Captain Dave’s Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari.
The tour operator posted this video on August 22 to YouTube and Facebook, stating that the “dramatic and memorable encounter occurred just a few miles off Orange County’s shoreline, near Dana Point.”
They said that the three whales were swimming down the coast at around 15 knots, “launching their massive bodies up and out of the water,” adding: “Typically these gentle giants, who consume four tons of krill every day, prefer to conserve their energy and swim at about three to five knots.”
Captain Dave’s Whale Watching regularly document their encounters with marine life, which they upload to their social media page. Credit: Dolphinsafari.com via Storyful
