TripAdvisor rates luxury Cheshire hotel Rookery Hall 'one of best in the world'

A luxurious Cheshire hotel and spa where David and Victoria Beckham famously got engaged has been recognised as one of the best hotels in the UK - and the world. The historic Rookery Hall, located in stunning Nantwich countryside, made the top 25 list in the UK & Channel Islands in Tripadvisor’s The Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Award.

The award celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel and is awarded to hotels who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews from the TripAdvisor community over a 12-month period. Out of the eight million TripAdvisor listings, fewer than one per cent of global hotels achieve this milestone.

CEO of owners Hand Picked Hotels, Ignace Bauwens, said: "Going above and beyond the expected is core to Hand Picked Hotels. We are dedicated to creating unique and enchanting stays for each and every guest every day.

"Therefore we’re delighted to see Rookery Hall recognised in this list as one of the best hotels in the world. This is a fantastic example of how our hotels deliver magical experiences and it is amazing to see it amongst such great company."

General manager James Wiseman adds: "Receiving this award is the ultimate recognition for our exceptional team. Guest feedback is imperative to our success, and this accolade is evidence of how their personalised touch and warmth is felt by our guests and why they return time and time again."

Built in 1816 and acquired by Julia and Guy Hands in 2001, Rookery Hall offers luxury rooms with exquisite period features and its 2 AA Rosette-awarded restaurant serves a chef’s experience menu, including the finest Cheshire produce and a premium champagne and wine list.

The hotel is also where the Beckhams also announced their engagement to the world back in 1998, after the couple presented each other with sparkly diamond rings during their stay in one of the lavish suites.
