Tropical Storm Ernesto Intensifies Over Leeward Islands

A hurricane watch was issued on Tuesday, August 13, for parts of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands as Tropical Storm Ernesto continued to “slowly strengthen” and move through the region.

According to the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA), the storm was expected to bring heavy rain to the Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
