A transporter bringing an ice rink to a Christmas fair in North Wales has crashed on route. The vehicle was heading to the Cracyr Nadolig Bangor Christmas Cracker in the university city.

But it was involved in a crash on the way this morning. Staff involved were left shaken but no one was seriously hurt.

It means the rink won't reach the event today. The major event is still taking place with many other festive attractions put on in the city centre.

Grŵp Cymunedol Bangor Community Group said: "Unfortunately the vehicle transporting the ice rink has been involved in an accident on its way to the event this morning. The staff travelling with the rink are very shaken but we are grateful no one was seriously hurt.

"Sadly, it does mean that the rink won't be at our event today. Thank you for your understanding."

The group said the event - starting at 10am - will still be "a full day of festivities, music, and fun for all ages in the heart of the city." They added: "This year we are excited to announce the Christmas Cracker is taking place throughout Pontio, Storiel Green, Glanrafon Car park and Bangor High Street,"
