Trump likens Harris to ‘TikTok performer’ in foreign policy ad

In a new foreign policy advertisement, former President Trump likened Vice President Harris to a “TikTok performer” and criticized her international capabilities.

Trump posted the video to his account on the social platform X without a caption.

The clip showed videos of foreign officials watching Harris dance and speak while a narrator speaks.

“America doesn’t need another TikTok performer,” the narrator said during clips of people holding cellphones that showed Harris dancing.

The ad then switched to clips of Trump and said “we need the strength that will protect us.”

The advertisement comes with just less than 40 days until the election and as international tensions heat up.

Earlier Tuesday, Iran launched missiles into Israel after Israel killed a top leader of the Iranian-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. It’s a major escalation in a nearly yearlong cross-border conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. It’s tied to the ongoing war in Gaza that began after the Palestinian militant group Hamas invaded Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

Trump quickly commented on the attacks Tuesday afternoon.

“Look at the World today — Look at the missiles flying right now in the Middle East, look at what’s happening with Russia/Ukraine, look at Inflation destroying the World. NONE OF THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS PRESIDENT!” he wrote online.

According to recent polling, Harris leads Trump in perception of their foreign policy pursuits nationally but trails on foreign policy in swing states.

Trump argues that many of the problems in the world, from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to the killings by Hamas of Israelis on Oct. 7, are somehow linked to the Democratic administration’s policies.

In the ad, he argues that Russian President Vladimir Putin saw “their weakness” and that Hamas took note of “anti-Israel” statements from Harris.

Harris has repeatedly voiced support for Israel, while President Biden has been criticized by some Democratic lawmakers for being too supportive of Israel, and for not doing enough to prevent Palestinian deaths in Gaza.
