Three people have been injured after a car ploughed through the glass-doored lobby of the Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, New York.

Two pedestrians and the driver were hurt after the black Mercedes-Benz C300 coupe crashed into the 40-storey luxury residence at 9pm.

The driver casually got out of the car and sat on the sofa in the building’s main hall, a local ABC affiliate reported.

“I just heard like a big boom,” Israel Galvan, a resident of the building, told the local ABC affiliate.

“And everyone in there heard like something and some didn’t. And I just came out this way and I just see all the glass. Then I come down and I see the guy he’s like casually just coming out.”

Videos and photos from the scene showed the damaged car surrounded by smashed glass and broken doors.

The crash appeared to be an accident and the driver was being questioned by the police early on Wednesday, NBC and other media reported.

There was nothing suspicious about the crash, New Rochelle police told local media.

None of the injuries appeared to be serious.

Workers could later be seen clearing up the debris.

“We would like to thank the first responders for their swift attention to this evening’s incident,” a spokesperson for the Trump Organization said in an emailed statement to ABC News.

“We are truly grateful to them for their service.”

Donald Trump, the US president, and his family do not have a residence in the luxury property.
