Trump Plots Instant Revenge Over Hunter Biden Laptop Letter
Amid a seemingly endless barrage of ‘Day One’ pledges, Donald Trump is reportedly planning to suspend security clearances for more than 50 officials for “lying” about the Hunter Biden laptop controversy.
Citing a senior official with knowledge of the president-elect’s plans for Monday, Fox News reports clearances will be repealed for intelligence officers, branded ‘Spies Who Lie’ by the New York Post, who penned a letter describing reports about the device as bearing “the classic earmarks” of a Russian disinformation campaign in the months leading up to the 2020 presidential election.
While a federal investigation eventually confirmed the laptop had indeed belonged to the outgoing president’s son, several of the officials who made the claims said they stood by the letter and its broader concerns about Russian interference in U.S. democratic processes.
The device and its alleged contents later formed a focal point for long-running congressional attempts by the GOP to bring impeachment proceedings against Joe Biden, claiming Hunter Biden’s emails painted a picture of a concerted corruption scheme by the Biden family to sell access to the Democratic president.
To date, no investigations have uncovered any evidence of graft or wrongdoing on part of the outgoing president himself.
Earlier in December, Biden issued a pardon for his son, stating “the charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election.”
Trump’s plan to repeal security clearances for the 51 so-called ‘Spies Who Lie’ now also follows after Biden on Monday issued further, preemptive pardons for other time-tested Republican targets—including General Mark Milley, Dr. Anthony Fauci and members of Congress who served on the Jan. 6 committee–in what’s been received as an unprecedented last-minute flex of presidential muscle.
