Trump Supporters Gather in Downtown Detroit in Vote-Counting Protest

A crowd gathered outside the TCF Center in Detroit, Michigan, on Thursday, November 5, for the second day of protests calling for a halt to vote counting, despite the Associated Press declaring Joe Biden the winner in the state’s presidential vote.

Media reported that more than 98 percent of Michigan’s votes had been counted as of Thursday afternoon.

Footage from Brendan Gutenschwager shows dozens of individuals waving Trump flags, and driving through the area. The driver of the Trump Unity Bridge truck could also be seen passing the crowd, voicing via loudspeaker a claim of “vote swapping” in northern Michigan – meaning that Trump’s and Biden’s numbers were reversed. Several claims of unexplained votes across Michigan have been debunked.

Both US political parties had hit the maximum of 134 challengers they were permitted to have in the TCF Center on Wednesday, where absentee votes that could decide the election were being counted, the Detroit Free Press reported.

On Thursday, The Detroit News reported that a judge said she planned to block a Trump campaign request to “stop the counting of Michigan ballots until more poll challengers can observe.” Credit: Brendan Gutenschwager via Storyful
