  • Former President Donald Trump is using his looming indictment for fundraising on Truth Social.

  • Trump said he would be "arrested" next week and called for his followers to protest.

  • Trump's attorney said he was basing his claim on "tea leaves" and a Fox News report.

True to form, former President Donald Trump is using his looming indictment to fundraise.

On Monday, Trump shared a minute-long attack ad with suspenseful music bashing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's on Truth Social, spreading a litany of conspiracy theories and allegations about the DA. The video followed days of other attacks on Bragg, as well as fundraising efforts that followed his posts about a possible indictment.

In a Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump said he expects to be "arrested" on Tuesday, though his attorneys previously told Insider's Laura Italiano on Saturday they could not confirm that information and said he was "basing this on press reports."

A few hours after Trump called for his followers to "protest" and "take our nation back," he shared a fundraising video.

"If you are doing poorly, as so many of you are, do not send anything. If you are doing well, which was made possible through the great policies of the Trump Administration, send your contribution," Trump wrote, listing his website for donations.

"We have to take back our Country and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" the former president added.

Again on Monday, Trump's Save America Joint Fundraising Committee referenced the indictment in a fundraising plea and asked for donations "to show that you will never surrender," according to CBS News.

The Manhattan district attorney is investigating the illegal $130,000 hush payment made to Stormy Daniels leading up to the 2016 election. However, there is yet to be an indictment, which would precede Trump surrendering to authorities.

Trump continued his Truth Social spree Saturday afternoon, calling for his supporters to "PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!!!"

The Manhattan DA has discussed security measures ahead of a possible indictment, per a report.

Correction: March 20, 2023 — A previous headline misstated what news Trump was fundraising from. His fundraising posts from Saturday were not explicitly tied to previous Truth Social posts about a possible indictment. On Monday, he did specifically fundraise off of false claims about the Manhattan district attorney.
