Truth Seekers star Nick Frost has said that news of the show's cancellation after one season is a "massive kick in the willy".

Reuniting Frost with his Cornetto trilogy co-star Simon Pegg, the spooky Prime Video comedy series premiered its first season last October to reasonable acclaim.

With a 76% Rotten Tomatoes score, the show eclipsed Gillian Flynn's cancelled Utopia remake while falling short of the streamer's Lost-esque hit The Wilds.

Alas, Truth Seekers has since been cancelled.

The news was confirmed in a now-deleted Instagram video posted by show star and co-creator Nick Frost.

In a video message to fans, Frost shared the unfortunate news that Truth Seekers has not been renewed for a second season, while he also lamented the spooky stories that "will remain now untold".

"Hello fans Nick Frost here," he said in the clip. "Whatever time zone you're in, get ready to be rocked with some bad news and that news is this: Sadly, Truth Seekers will not be returning for a second season.

"Truth Seekers has not been renewed, which is a massive kick in the willy for me. We really put our all into this, our heart and soul and blood in some cases, so to not come back is really sad for us and it's a shame.

"I think we had lots of lovely ghost stories to tell. Stories that will remain now untold," he added. "If you liked the show, thank you. And if you didn't, are you happy now? Happy now?"

Truth Seekers follows a team of part-time paranormal investigators who stumble upon an apocalyptic conspiracy. Alongside Frost and Pegg, the series also stars Samson Kayo, Malcolm McDowell, Susie Wokoma and Julian Barratt.

The show's cancellation follows on from both Frost and his co-star Samson Kayo previously confirming to Digital Spy that they'd be happy to return for a second season of the show.

"I'd love to so another season, that would be great," Kayo said, while Frost added: "I'd love to see where it goes and I'd love to have the chance to eat more biscuits in the van with Samson."

Truth Seekers is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
