We try Kris Crumbles pop-up outside St Stephens for sweet treats and mulled wine
If you've been anywhere near St Stephen's Shopping Centre lately, you may have noticed a tantalising smell lingering in the air.
There's a medley of aromas including the caramel-like smell of baked apples, sweet waffle dough, and appetising wafts of mulled wine and hot chocolate. The stall behind the delicious smells is Kris Crumbles, a pop-up by Hull man Wesley Jackson.
Wesley's stall is often at music festivals and events throughout the year, but he thought it would be nice to treat his home city to tasty takeaway baked goods and boozy drinks for Christmas. Hull Live paid a visit and sampled Kinder Bueno waffle stix, an apple crumble, and a cup of mulled wine.

Hull famously lacks a big Christmas market like other cities (although the Makers Market will be in Queen Street on Sunday, December 1 only) so it is wonderful to have a seasonal hot food stall that eases you into the Christmassy spirit.
And what better way to feel festive than to be a massive glutton? Every mouthful of the Kris Crumbles crumble hit the spot. Maybe it's a lie that you can have too much of a good thing.
Next up was the waffle stix. This is basically a waffle threaded onto a kebab-like stick and then smothered in chocolate sauce, strawberries, and Kinder Bueno pieces. They also do a Biscoff one.
The sweetness of the strawberries was amazing - I certainly didn't expect them to be so juicy and flavourful at this time of year. They went beautifully with the chocolate sauce.
As waffles go, the dough was perfect. It had that pleasant, slightly vanilla flavour of a fairy cake but with a very fluffy texture that is undeniably moreish. The mulled wine went down a treat too.
And for Bailey's lovers among us - you can ask for the Irish cream liqueur to be poured all over your apple crumble which sounds like a match made in heaven. Kris Crumbles, who can be followed on Instagram here, are open daily from 11am to 7pm outside St Stephen’s Shopping Centre.
