Tube delays: Trespasser at Aldgate East causes chaos on four major London Underground lines
A trespasser at a busy east London station has caused huge disruption on four major Tube lines.
The District, Circle, Hammersmith and City and Metropolitan lines all ground to a halt on Thursday evening, sparking travel chaos.
The problems were caused by a trespasser at Aldgate East station, TfL said.
Video footage posted on social media showed two women emerging from the tunnel at the station earlier in the evening.
As a result there was no service between between Tower Hill and West Ham on the District line; Moorgate and Edgware Road via Embankment on the Circle line; Moorgate and Barking on the Hammersmith and City line; and Moorgate and Aldgate on the Metropolitan line.
Severe delays were later reported on all four lines.
Commuters on the District and Circle lines were particularly furious, after a faulty train at Earl's Court caused significant travel problems on Wednesday evening.
