A predatory paedophile who tried taking a photo up a schoolgirl’s skirt as he travelled to work on the Tube has been jailed.
Philip Goodwin was spotted by a horrified commuter as he attempted to get sick footage of the 14-year-old, dressed in school uniform, as she walked up the stairs at Moorgate station.
Station staff called the police after the incident in October and the 48-year-old, of Swakeleys Drive, Hillingdon, was promptly arrested.
During interviews, Goodwin admitted taking photos up the skirts of other women and schoolgirls across the Underground network.
On Friday at Blackfriars Crown Court, he was jailed for four-and-a-half years, after admitting a string of offences.
Speaking afterwards, Investigating officer, Detective Constable Andrew Parkinson from British Transport Police, said: “Goodwin is a predatory offender who will now spend the next four and a half years behind bars for his actions.
“Whilst he was travelling to work one morning, he spotted his victim, a young girl in school uniform, and targeted her. He attempted to take a photo up her skirt near a staircase; however his behaviour was spotted by a vigilant commuter.
“Because of this vigilance, officers were then able to trace Goodwin and expose his stash of indecent images,” he said.
“I welcome today’s sentence as it has taken a child sex offender off the streets - I hope this jail sentence brings a level of comfort to his victims."
