A Tube worker was attacked and punched in the head by a gang of school children at a station in north-east London.

A group of boys and girls, aged between 13 and 16, launched the vicious attack on the victim at South Woodford underground station at 6.15pm on February 15.

The victim was attacked after telling three of the youths they could not bring their bicycles into the station until after 7pm.

He was pushed and shoved by the schoolchildren before they repeatedly punched him in the head.

This resulted in two severe bruises to the face, cuts to his face and ear and a swollen jaw.

Investigating officer PC Ian Hockridge said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who might have been in the station at the time.

“We take staff assaults very seriously and we take a hard-line approach against those who assault staff. We will arrest, prosecute and possibly ban from rail services anyone who uses
