Tucked away restaurant finally nominated for award after eight years

Steak restaurant Cowshed has been nominated in The Good Food Guide's 100 Best Local Restaurants.

The guide considers nominations from thousands of diners across the UK before inspecting them themselves to see which venues are worthy of the accolade.

Liverpool's own Cowshed has announced it's in the running to be named one of the top 100 in the UK. The cosy Seel Street venue is famed for its prime cuts and five-star reviews, with thousands declaring it as one of the best spots in the city.

TripAdvisor contributor Sophie EKS delivered high praise following her visit, saying: "I’ve never written a review before, but honestly this place is so deserving. Since it opened me and my partner have been regular customers, and introduced all of our family and friends to it too, my all-time favourite restaurant." Echoing the sentiment, fellow customer Shirpa said: "This place is a must if you want to eat the best steak ever!"

Cowshed issued a statement on social media thanking both guests and the guide for their continued support. Thrilled with the nomination, the venue said: "So after 7 years and 5 months, (not that I’m counting), we are blown away to have been nominated to be entered into @goodfoodguideuk Top 100 Restaurants, thank you to those who have nominated us already."

Andy McHale, Cowshed's owner and director, added: "It's wonderful to be acknowledged by our lovely customers. After almost eight years it still means so much to all our staff."

A shortlist of restaurants from each region will now be drawn up based on public nominations. The Good Food Guide’s editors will then gather details from shortlisted restaurants, including but not limited to menus, images, supplier information and chef bios.

Shortlisted finalists will be visited anonymously by a Good Food Guide inspector. The full list of 100 Best Local Restaurants plus an overall winner and regional winners are selected by editors of The Good Food Guide in consultation with inspectors.
