Tucson Twins Delight as Second Vaccine Shot Completes Birthday Wish

Twelve-year-old twins from Tucson, Arizona, completed the second part of their birthday wish when the duo got Covid-19 vaccination shots on August 25.

Barbara Jean Madsen captured footage of sons, Parker and Ben, getting their injections, with the pair saying it was “great” to become fully vaccinated.

Parker and Ben got their first shot on August 4, to fulfill a birthday wish, with the family telling local media at the time that their enthusiasm for the vaccine was prompted by family tragedy.

“We wanted to get it as soon as possible because our great aunt and great uncle passed away from it so we wanted to get vaccinated to be safe from Covid-19," Parker told KGUN 9.

The relatives were “like their grandparents” the boys’ mother told Storyful, adding that the deaths had occurred due to Covid-19 in January, “just days before the vaccine was available.”

“The boys were devastated and traumatized. They have been anxiously awaiting their 12th birthday to get their vaccines. The first question Ben asked during celebratory birthday donuts was what time their appointment was. Parker’s biggest birthday wish is, that by sharing their story, they can help convince even one other person to get vaccinated,” Barbara Jean added. Credit: Barbara Jean Madsen via Storyful
