Tumbleweeds Roll Down Street as Strong Winds Hit Eastern New Mexico

Tumbleweeds were seen blowing in the wind down a street in Clayton, New Mexico, as the National Weather Service (NWS) warned of strong gusts across the state on February 21.

Video recorded by Chad Casey shows numerous tumbleweeds bouncing and rolling down the street, as he told Storyful that he “just started entering Clayton when the wind hit.”

The NWS clocked the highest wind gusts across the state on Tuesday, reporting that 64-mile per hour winds were recorded near the Clayton area.

On Wednesday, the NWS warned of snow squalls as a major storm brought damaging winds and blizzard-like conditions to parts of the state. Credit: Chad Casey via Storyful
