A Turkish Airlines plane bound for Canada was evacuated after a chilling message was found scrawled on the wall of a bathroom onboard.

Cabin crew members found the words "BOMB TO TORONTO" written on the bathroom's wall on Flight TK-17 as it pulled away from the gate, a Turkish Airlines spokesman said.

The plane was leaving Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport for Toronto Pearson International Airport.

It returned to its parking spot and was evacuated.

The airline said the plane and its passengers underwent security procedures, but confirmed nothing suspicious had been found.

Passengers boarded a new plane to Toronto.
