Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose Ayling-Ellis' silent Couple's Choice dance been nominated for the 'must-see moment award' at the TV Baftas.

The EastEnders actor and her partner Giovanni Pernice invited viewers of the BBC dance contest to step into her world as a deaf dancer with the silent sequence in their routine to Symphony by Clean Bandit featuring Zara Larsson.

The performance is now up for the Virgin Media Must-See Moment Award, which is decided by public vote. The winner will be revealed at the TV Bafta awards, which will be broadcast on 8 May.

Ayling-Ellis went on to win the latest series of Strictly and made history as the first deaf contestant on the show, in which she counted to keep to the music.

She said afterwards: "I think it's super important because it's an opportunity to show on such a big platform with millions of people watching, and change their concept of what they think deaf people are like. I'm very proud of that."

Also nominated are I’m A Celebrity hosts Ant and Dec for their jibes at prime minister Boris Johnson over the Christmas party scandal.

They took aim at Johnson during the ITV reality show when the campers decided to keep the truth about a Castle Coin Challenge from campmate David Ginola.

McPartlin referred to the fact that the campers had decided to “cover it up” and Donnelly quipped: “That’s not a very good idea is it?”

“If we’ve learned one thing in the last 24 hours, it’s that you can’t get away with covering things up,” McPartlin said.

Other TV moments in the running include Adele being surprised on stage by her favourite school teacher, at the London Palladium during her ITV show An Audience With Adele.

And critically acclaimed Channel 4 drama It's A Sin following the story of three young men in London in 1981 at the beginning of the HIV epidemic is also nominated.

The moment Welsh character Colin is told he has been diagnosed with Aids is also in the running for Virgin Media Must-See Moment Award.

RuPaul's Drag Race UK winners United Kingdolls are up for the public-voted award for their performance of UK Hun? in The RuRuVision Song Contest.

And Netflix drama Squid Game has been nominated for the Red Light, Green Light game in the first episode, when contestants and viewers were first confronted with the reality that losing a round in the game meant death.

Last year the award was won by Diversity for their performance on Britain’s Got Talent, inspired by the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.

Voting is open until 5pm BST on 19 April to choose the winner, the only Bafta award decided by the public.

The victor will be announced at the ceremony on 8 May.
