TV comedian Tracey Ullman’s former Mayfair townhouse listed for sale for £6.75 million

The former London home of British-American comedian and actress Tracey Ullman has been listed for sale in an ultra-exclusive London street.

Located in Mayfair's cobbled Derby Street, which runs perpendicular to Curzon Street, the narrow Georgian townhouse is arranged over six floors with an entire storey set aside for the main bedroom suite with its own built-in sound system, fitted wardrobes and a bathroom with a free-standing bath, shower and two sinks.

There are two storage vaults as well as another bedroom in basement of the early Georgian house; a ground floor kitchen and dining room and reception rooms; a study; and a further two bedrooms on the floors above. The top floor houses a living room opening out into the roof terrace.

Ullman — whose trophy cabinet includes 12 American Comedy Awards, two British Academy film awards including one for lifetime achievement and a Golden Globe — lived at the property in the 1990s and early 2000s with her husband Allan McKeown, the late comedy producer behind TV shows such as Porridge and Auf Widersehen, Pet.

Part of a terrace of townhouses built in around 1750, the property's features typical of the period include an exposed brick façade with stucco-fronted lower storeys, and sash windows.

During the Georgian and early Victorian years the home was used by the private tutors to children in the Grosvenor family — the family's ownership of and associations with 300 acres of land and property in London in the 1720s led to the development of the areas we now know as Mayfair and Belgravia.

Wetherell founder and chairman Peter Wetherell says the "fully modernised and refurbished Georgian townhouse" near Hyde Park and Green Park is a "lovely family home."

On the back of the pandemic, says Wetherall, “people want to control their own space, and have their own front door.”

“And, with inflation coming along, a property like this means you can control your outgoings as well.”

The townhouse has been the family home of the current owners who bought it from Tracey Ullman around 10 years ago and are now planning a move to the countryside. It is now on the market for £6.75 million.
