It's the first semi-final today as sixteen acts vie for a place in Saturday's main show.

Russia, Ireland, and Malta are among the countries hoping to make it to the final with their chosen act.

Commentating is Scott Mills and Chelsea Grimes, while Sara Cox steps in to replace an ill Rylan Clark-Neal.

Historian David Olusoga and science writer Steven Johnson front a new series exploring the scientific and medical breakthroughs that combated some of the world's deadliest diseases.

Each episode looks at one aspect of public health that had played a key role in extending human life expectancy, with its opening episode very aptly investigating vaccines.
