Two US news journalists have been shot and killed as they filmed a live broadcast on live television.

WDJB reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were both killed by a gunman who opened fire on them as they were conducting an interview at Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta, Virginia.

The distressing footage shows Ms Parker scream in terror and run for her life as gunshots can be heard off camera.

The camera itself falls to the ground before cutting back to a shocked presenter in the newsroom.

Mr Ward’s fiancé Melissa Ott was apparently in the control room and saw the shooting happen live.

It was her last day on the job.

Police are still looking for the shooter, who the governor of Virginia stated was a disgruntled former employee of the same station where the victims worked.

His arrest is said to be “imminent”.

WDJB7 soon tweeted their shock as they attempted to work out what happened.

They wrote: “We are trying to figure out what just happened - thank you all for your concern and kind words.”
