TV Ratings: NBC’s Fourth of July Fireworks Hit Three-Year High
NBC got a strong tune-in for its annual Independence Day fireworks special.
The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular brought in 7.6 million viewers across NBC and Peacock, the best multi-platform showing for the special in three years. It improved slightly (by 2 percent) on last year’s all-in number. (The 7.6 million figure includes both the live, two-hour special and a one-hour replay on NBC Thursday and Peacock’s simulcast of the live special.)

A breakdown of the audience between NBC and Peacock wasn’t immediately available. In 2023, the Fireworks Spectacular averaged about 4.57 million viewers for its live showing and 2.82 million for the 10 p.m. replay.
Thursday’s show is NBC’s biggest entertainment special of the year so far, a title it’s likely to hold for another three-plus months until the network’s annual broadcast of another Macy’s-branded event, the Thanksgiving parade.
The 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular featured musical performances from Amber Mark, Bell Biv DeVoe, Brandy Clark, Lainey Wilson, Luis Fonsi, Mickey Guyton, Tanner Adell and the War and Treaty along with a huge fireworks display launched from the Hudson River in New York City.
Jesse Collins Entertainment produced the special. Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay are the executive producers.
Fox was the only other broadcaster airing original programming Thursday night; it had a quarterfinal match (Argentina vs. Ecuador) in the Copa America soccer tournament. Ratings weren’t available at publication time.
