TVLine Items: Elizabeth McGovern on Talamasca, Sister, Sister ‘Reunion’ and More
Having overseen Downton Abbey, Elizabeth McGovern is now set to lord over a very different institution in AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe.
The actress has joined The Talamasca (working title), the third series in the network’s expanding franchise, in the series-regular role of Helen, TVLine has learned.

The character is described as “a seasoned veteran of the Talamasca, and the leader of its New York Motherhouse. She has long suspected that London’s Motherhouse has fallen under the influence of traitorous elements, and a mysterious death prompts her to recruit Guy Anatole (Nicholas Denton), who will become her protégé.” The cast also includes William Fichtner (Mom, Prison Break).
The Talamasca is slated to premiere in 2025 on AMC and AMC+.

* Lifetime has greenlit the Christmas movie A Very Merry Beauty Salon, executive-produced by and starring Tia Mowry, who will reunite with her Sister, Sister co-star RonReaco Lee (aka Tyreke) in the film. “The movie follows the lively women of an Atlanta beauty salon owned by Sienna (Mowry) who must prepare for the annual Tinsel Ball, but is Sienna also prepared for love when Lawrence (Lee)” — a charismatic CEO whose family’s wine brand is co-sponsoring the Ball — “arrives to town?” reads the official synopsis.
* Netflix and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson have teamed up for a docuseries about Sean “Diddy” Combs and the sex trafficking and racketeering charges against him, as well as the allegations of sexual assault and violent abuse, our sister site Variety reports.
* The special Velma: This Halloween Needs to Be More Special! will premiere Thursday, Oct. 3 on Max. In the program, “with just 24 hours to bring Velma back, the friends search for a dark spellbook while trying to avoid the wrath of a vengeful spirit,” reads the official synopsis. “But as the annual Sexy Halloween party nears, Velma and the gang must face their biggest fears… if they all want to make it out alive.”
* Hulu has released a trailer for Solar Opposites Halloween Special Part 2: The Hunt for Brown October, dropping Monday, Oct. 7:
