TWD's Rick and Michonne spin-off adds Lucifer star

Lucifer's Lesley-Ann Brandt has officially joined The Walking Dead spin-off centred on Rick and Michonne's reunion.

According to Deadline, she's landed the key recurring role of Pearl Thorne opposite series leads Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, with filming now underway in New Jersey.

Character details are unsurprisingly being kept on the down-low right now.

The synopsis for this as-of-yet untitled show teases "an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were.

"Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living.

"Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they've ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors?" it continues. "Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?"

Brandt's most famous TV job unfolded across all six seasons of Lucifer, in which she played both Mazikeen and Lilith, with additional credits coming via Gotham and The Librarians.

The six-episode Rick and Michonne project originally took the form of a movie trilogy focussed on Lincoln's sharpshooting sheriff, but AMC's huge shift in gear was announced during last summer's San Diego Comic-Con International.

"These are two people that have been separated for a very long time. They've lived whole other existences and they have to find themselves again, let alone each other. It's hopefully going to be mind-blowing," series boss Scott M Gimple previously shared..

The Walking Dead aired on AMC in the US and STAR on Disney+ in the UK.
