Twin Peaks' TV return caused a Twitter meltdown
It's only taken a quarter of a century (and a bit), but Twin Peaks has finally returned to screens last night (May 21) – bringing its heady mix of mystery and downright supernatural weirdness back to a hungry legion of fans across the world.
With the end of the second series all those years ago ending on some huge – and frustrating – cliffhangers, there were many questions that could have been answered in tonight's premiere and beyond.
As things unfolded over in the ever-fascinating Twitter-sphere, we kept an eye on how people reacted online as David Lynch's beloved series returned – and, boy, were there a lot of reactions to sift through.
There will be spoilers contained in the following tweets for the first episode of the new season of Twin Peaks, as well as some tweets containing adult language.

The opening credits have been revamped with a slightly head-spinning new twist, which got some people feeling a bit woozy:
