Warning: This article contains spoilers about the first two episodes of the Twin Peaks revival.

After more than 25 years, Twin Peaks fans finally found out what on earth happened to Agent Dale Cooper.

In 1991, viewers saw Kyle MacLachlan's character enter the Black Lodge, only to never emerge. Cooper meets his evil doppelgänger, inhabited by Bob, as Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) tells him that she will see him in "25 years".

So what happened next?

The premiere reveals that Cooper has not been seen at all since he stepped inside the Black Lodge, but Evil Cooper is out and about, with a penchant for gross chat-up lines and straight-up murdering people.

The doppelgänger has grown out his hair and is sporting a leather jacket, looking a little like this:

Meanwhile, the real Cooper is still stuck in the Black Lodge. After 25 years, he is told that he has served his time and can finally leave – on one condition.

"Do you remember. Your doppelgänger? He must come back in before you can go out," Cooper is told by... um, a brain on a tree. It's brilliantly weird.

But it doesn't look like it will be an easy task, as the doppelgänger has something up his sleeve...

"Tomorrow, I'm supposed to be pulled back into what they call the Black Lodge. But I've got a plan for that one," he says, ominously.
