Twitter decides which Thomas the Tank Engine characters voted Leave or Remain in Brexit debate
A stand-up comedian decided to reimagine the Thomas the Tank Engine characters as Leavers or Remainers on Twitter, and people are finding it hilarious.
The thread by Sooz Kempner broke down each character from the children's television series, concluding which way they would have voted in 2016.
Thomas and Henry were both labelled Remainers, along with Percy, James, Edward, Bertie, Douglas and the Fat Controller.
The leave voters were Gordon, Diesel, Duck, Donald and Harold.
Toby did not bother voting, according to the thread, because he thinks "politicians are all the same".
THREAD: How the Thomas the Tank Engine characters voted in the EU referendum.
THOMAS: Remain. Really likes the BBC's Brexitcast podcast and recommends it to everybody. pic.twitter.com/JCB8gRInZM— Sooz Kempner (@SoozUK)
GORDON: Leave. Still thinks calling Remain voters "Remoaners" is very very funny stuff. pic.twitter.com/tqmbEDNzzN

MR TOPHAM HAT: Remain. Since changing his name he's really mellowed politically and can't believe he used to have the Twitter handle @Britain4theBritish69. pic.twitter.com/AkxocLmslG

EDWARD: Remain. Campaigned for Remain and genuinely changed the minds of a lot of angry disenfranchised people who blamed the EU for their high street being boarded-up. Is very sad these days and misses the 2012 Olympics. pic.twitter.com/aWN1aCjxYn

BERTIE: Remain and very optimistic that we won't leave the EU in the end. Makes the joke about having a lie painted on his side probably too often these days, it's been a while and he should get a new joke. pic.twitter.com/VtJLm2l7Ay

DONALD & DOUGLAS: Donald voted Leave, Douglas voted Remain. They haven't spoken since late 2016 and their dad has told them both separately "this is killing your mother". pic.twitter.com/PymHCN6HT1

The thread sparked conversation and debate over each character. One user said: "Gordon is a typical negative Vote Leave curmudgeon. Also denies climate change because he once got stuck in the snow, thus disproving global warming. Right-wing snowflake."
Another said: "S***. I think I'm Percy. The fact that I have referred to myself so often in this tweet makes me think it even more."
And one quipped: "What about the Magic Roundabout? How did they vote?"
