Another day another poor-taste joke from a rich person. Some things never change do they? This time, it's chat show host Ellen Degeneres who is coming under fire for comments in which she compared social distancing in her multi million dollar California mansion to being in jail.

Filming The Ellen Show from her home in California, Ellen opened by telling viewers, "Today, I am filming this in my living room because it has the best light and sound and all the other rooms in my house are filled with toilet paper." Then she added, "This is like being in jail. Mostly because I’ve been wearing the same clothes for 10 days and everyone in here is gay."

Even without Coronavirus, the comparison was jarring, but given the current situation it went down particularly badly. The mansion Ellen's show was being filmed in is reportedly worth $27m, meanwhile people in prison worldwide are under increased risk of contracting Coronavirus due to the difficulty of maintaining social distancing measures in these facilities.

Safe to say, people let her know they weren't happy:

Since the backlash, the clip that had been available on The Ellen Show's YouTube channel was deleted, before a new version, with the comments edited out, was re-uploaded.
