Two men were arrested on suspicion of burglary in a posh Cotswolds village last night, Wednesday, November 20. Two individuals were seen acting suspiciously in a garden while dressed all in black.

The incident took place at around 6pm in Stratton, near Cirencester, where two men were seen entering the side gate of a property. Gloucestershire Police officers from Cirencester attended the scene and found the rear window of the address had been forced open.

Two people fled the scene on foot, but after a short chase one man was detained at around 6.10pm, while another was located soon afterwards at an allotment on Cheltenham Road, thanks to the assistance of officers from Stow-on-the-Wold.

Gloucestershire Police are now calling for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or who has information they feel is relevant, to complete this online form, quoting incident number 369 of 20 November.

Gloucestershire Constabulary said: "As the winter months approach and the nights get darker earlier, officers would also like to remind residents of the protective measures that can be taken to help ensure homes and outbuildings are as safe as possible.

"Homeowners are advised to install a 'WIDE' combination of security devices to help protect your home, shed, or garage from burglary, as well as ensuring that back gates are secure.

"A 'WIDE' combination includes:

  • Window locks

  • Indoor lights on timer switches

  • Double door locks or deadbolts

  • External lights on a sensor.
