Two baby elephants were rescued on Monday after they fell into a deep pit in Sri Lanka. Residents of Kalagama in Galkiriyagama worked alongside wildlife officials for four hours to dig around the pit so that the animals could climb to safety on their own. One of the calves then headed directly for the waiting herd but another walked into a nearby village. However, rescuers managed to redirect the youngster and reunite it with its mother.
