Two town centre roads remain closed today - after burst water pipes ripped up both carriageways. Wedgwood Street and Moorland Road, in Burslem, are both still closed to traffic.

It follows a burst water pipe on Moorland Road in the early hours of last Tuesday and a similar incident on Wedgwood Street two mornings later.

Severn Trent Water has a permit to remain on Moorland Road until Friday 29 November. It is a shorter period on Wedgwood Street - with the permit running out on Tuesday 26 November.

But ward councillor Jane Ashworth warned the work could take longer in a weekend update.

She told residents: "It is going to take until at least November 27 to fix the problem. But the guys are making progress."

It comes as Port Vale are expecting a bumper crowd for tonight's League Two Vale Park derby against Crewe Alexandra.
