My Two Dads: where are the cast of the '80s sitcom now?

From Digital Spy

When a grumpy judge orders that an orphaned girl be sent to live with two mismatched men, hijinks ensue. Yes, that really is the premise of My Two Dads, the popular sitcom that ran for three memorable seasons between 1987 and 1990.

But where are the cast now? We're glad you asked!

You can count on us to find out...

Paul Reiser – Michael Taylor

Reiser had already appeared in some fairly iconic movies when My Two Dads aired: Diner (1982), Beverly Hills Cop (1984) and Aliens (1986).

Reiser played one of the two titular dads on the show, and followed it with another hugely popular sitcom, Mad About You, in which he starred alongside Helen Hunt. The show earned him nominations for an Emmy, a Golden Globe, an American Comedy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Reiser's success was so massive that he's even been able to play himself on several projects, including Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Aristocrats and Funny People.

More recently, Reiser's popped up in the Oscar-winning Whiplash, and can be seen on Netflix's Stranger Things.

Evigan first found fame as the titular BJ in BJ and the Bear, a popular '70s series in the US.

Following his co-lead turn in Dads, the actor appeared in a whole bunch of iconic shows.

Whether he was popping up in Columbo: A Bird in the Hand (1992) as Harold McCain, Melrose Place (1992) as Dr Dan Hathaway, CSI: Miami (2005) as Sean Walsh, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2015) as Bruce Waters, or Bones (2017) as Rick Tobine, Evigan has kept working pretty constantly.

He can next be seen in General Hospital (2018), playing a character named Jim Harvey.

Staci Keanan – Nicole Bradford

Immediately after her work as the child star on My Two Dads (for which she won the coveted 'Best Young Actress Starring in a New Television Comedy Series' award in 1988), Keanan appeared in not just one, but two other sitcoms.

In Going Places, Keanan played Lindsay Bowen, the excitable neighbour of a bunch of TV writers (yes, this was a TV show about writing a TV show – meta!). The show ran on ABC for one season.

Then, from 1991 to1998, Keanan appeared on Step by Step, ABC's popular sitcom about a blended family, which featured Keanan as Dana, a sharp-witted feminist.

Sadly, these were the biggest projects of Keanan's post-Dads career. She also had one-off cameos in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1997), Cybill (1998) and Diagnosis: Murder (1998), and appeared in a whole bunch of films you probably haven't seen, like Hidden Secrets (2006), Sarah's Choice (2009), Holyman Undercover (2010), You Again (2010) and Death and Cremation (2010). Cremation was the last time we saw the actress on-screen.

Florence Stanley – Judge Margaret W Wilbur

Stanley's career was fairly astonishing even before she became a fan favourite on My Two Dads, with her varied stage appearances including Yente in Broadway's Fiddler on the Roof from 1966 to 1971 (more than 2,000 performances) and a turn in the tap-dance-tastic Broadway production of The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild.

Then, while Stanley was playing Judge Wilbur on My Two Dads, she (slightly bizarrely) reprised the character on fellow NBC show Night Court.

Following My Two Dads, Stanley appeared in some hugely popular series, including Family Guy (where she played Mrs Griffin) and Malcolm in the Middle (where she also played Mrs Griffin).

Her final screen appearance came in 2003's Down with Love, which starred Renée Zellweger and Ewan McGregor.

Sadly, Stanley passed away in 2003, leaving behind a legacy of much-loved movies, TV shows and theatrical turns.

Giovanni Ribisi – Cory Kupkus

One of My Two Dads' most recognisable stars, Ribisi followed his time on the show with appearances in some of the most iconic series and movies of all time.

Whether it's The X-Files or The Wonder Years, Friends or Family Guy, you'll have seen Ribisi in at least something.

Then there's a little-known movie named Avatar, which just so happens to be the most successful film ever made. Ribisi is signed up for four (yes, FOUR) more Avatar films, so expect to see performances from him until at least 2025.

Amy Hathaway – Shelby Haskell

Hathaway is credited as appearing in 32 episodes of My Two Dads (though eight of those are 'credit only'), and managed to make an impression on fans during her run on the show.

Like Giovanni Ribisi, she appeared in The Wonder Years following the series; and like Staci Keanan, she appeared in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Unlike anyone else on the show, she also appeared in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Brad Pitt / Angelina Jolie action flick Mr & Mrs Smith.

Hathaway has left the performance side of the entertainment industry, with her final role coming in 2013's Alien Rising. She is currently a board adviser and stock holder in iDream Media Inc.
