Two Dead After Plane Crash Near Sacramento-Area Airport

At least two people died and a third was injured after a small plane crashed into a wooded area close to Auburn Municipal Airport in California on Friday, January 24, officials said.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said three people were on board a non-commercial aircraft when it crashed east of the airport, near the Black Oak Golf Course. Fire officials said the crash occurred near the intersection of Dry Creek Road and Haines Road.

Both CalFire and the sheriff’s office said investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration had been notified and were en route to the scene. Credit: Placer County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
