Two Dead After Toronto Nightclub Shooting

Two people are dead and three others wounded after sporadic shooting began at a Toronto nightclub.

The club was hosting a concert after-party hosted by Canadian rapper and record producer Drake.

The victims included a woman who was pronounced dead at the scene and a man who died after being taken to hospital.

It is not yet known what led to the shooting, though a similar shooting at the same event in 2014 resulted in a 24-year-old man being rushed to hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police suspect there could be more victims and have appealed for any witnesses to contact them though officers have yet to make any arrests.

One victim of the shooting was found on Dufferin Street three blocks north of the club.

Police Superintendent Frank Bergen said the event was properly organised and well policed and that the shooting began inside the Muzik club and spilled into the street.

"We're satisfied at this point that the organisation involved was doing their best and this did occur at approximately 3.30am as things were shutting down for the evening," he said.

"Uniformed officers have the area cordoned off because it is a very large scene. What occurred in the bar area spilled out into the street and we have three separate crime scenes."

It was not immediately clear whether Drake was in the club at the time.
